About Us

Comprised of library teams and consultants located throughout the province, Knowledge Resource Service (KRS) is part of the provincial Knowledge Management (KM) department in AHS’ Research, Innovation and Analytics portfolio.  To support evidence-informed decision making and quality patient care, KRS connects Alberta Health Services staff and healthcare providers with evidence resources and support in using them effectively.  For more information on KRS, please contact KRS@albertahealthservices.ca.

We also welcome Covenant Health clients to access knowledge resources and services through this site.  Service requests from Covenant Health clients will be filled by Covenant Health Library Services, who provide quality, knowledge-based information that supports patient care and decision-making at all levels within Covenant Health.  Situated within Covenant Health’s Professional Practice department, Library Services  operates two site libraries (Grey Nuns Health Sciences Library, Misericordia Weinlos Library) from which service to all Covenant Health facilities across the province is provided.  For more information on Covenant Health Library Services, please contact CovenantLibrary@CovenantHealth.ca.

What do we do?

  • We support evidence-informed decision making through the management, access and use of quality resources.
  • We reduce the barriers to information and evidence by providing access to a core set of electronic resources through one provincial website and to a team of knowledge experts ready to respond to your information needs.
  • We support AHS staff to be copyright compliant in the use and creation of copyrighted material by providing education, developing tools for awareness and understanding of Canadian copyright legislation, and a consultation service for copyright concerns. Copyright issues that require legal advice will be referred to AHS Legal and Privacy as appropriate.
  • We advocate and think broadly about the knowledge resources and services that a health care organization may need now and in the future including the management of in-house repositories of information.
