Mobile Apps & Resources: App of the Month

To keep you updated on the go, our ‘app of the month’ highlights one free informational app every month!

Librarian reviewers from the Knowledge Resource Service (KRS) and the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) consider the audience and purpose of the apps, as well as highlighting additional features:

  • In the ‘Evidence’ section, we assess how easily an app user can identify the app’s currency and support from the evidence
  • In the ‘Usability’ section, we assess the organization of information and other usability factors that may contribute to user experience

Our complete grading criteria for evidence and usability are embedded in the review.

Please note that the reviewers are not healthcare professionals, and so cannot appraise the quality of any recommendations within the app. The reviews are not endorsements.

Stated Purpose

“Since 2003, the British Psychological Society has been digesting new research in psychology.
We now digest at least one new journal article every weekday, aiming to demonstrate that psychological science is fascinating and useful while also casting a critical eye over its methods. Our Editor Christian Jarrett and Contributing Writer Alex Fradera are both qualified in psychology to PhD level and they read thoroughly all the peer-reviewed research they report on. We strive to write in a style that educates, entertains and generates interest, but without resorting to hype.” (3)
